Question
Will ferrofluid react differently if you change the strength of an electromagnet?
Hypothesis
If the electromagnetic field is stronger or weaker, then that affects the shape of the ferrofluid. I think this because the strength of the magnet should affect the size of the magnetic field, which will affect the shape of the ferrofluid.
Independent Variable
The electromagnet is the independent variable because you are changing the strength of the magnet.
Dependent Variable
The shape of the ferrofluid is the dependent variable because the ferrofluid is affected by the strength of the magnetic field.
Controlled Variable
The amount of ferrofluid in the petri dish, the voltage of the battery, the current being supplied to the electromagnet and the weight of the washer being lifted by the ferrofluid are all controlled variables.
